The valley Maltatal is full of granite boulders, sports routes and
beautiful few houndred meters long watterfall. Because of entirely
regulation of the valley in purport of climbing there is not allowed
publishing the bouldering guide. We hope this would be arranged as
soon as possible. The boulders are pretty diffused. The only disadvantage
are minor problems. Respect the nature, do not leave garbage!
On the highway Salzburg
- Villach, exit Gmund, Maltatal. First you drive to Gmund and then
another 5 minutes to village Malta. From the end of that village
to the first boulders is about 7 kilometers. To access the boulders
do not use meadows, use route through the forest.
In spring, autumn and in mild winters. The summers are too hot.
In the winter there could be a lot of snow.
The camp in Malta is open from May till the end of September. You
will find it beside the main road through the Malta, in the ammidiate
nearness of gas-station. Price is 7 EUR a night per person. Accommodation
for the night is also possible in Gmund and in Spittal (Malta -
Spittal 15 minutes). Price of accommodation for the night in apartment
is around 18 EUR.
Do not transgress the
barbed wire, do not tread on meadow. Do not leave garbage and traces.
